Pisani Coat of Arms

This section of the site is dedicated mainly to my own genealogical research and will contain details of not only my Pisani Family, but also the other names that I am researching in my paternal tree.

ZAMMIT, BONNICI, AQUILINA, BARABARA, MICALLEF, CURZI, CACHIA, GRIMA, FARRUGIA

However, I am also keen to collate information here regarding the other Pisani families around the world. In fact the aim is to see if we can't connect them up somehow! If you are researching your Pisani tree and you are willing to share this information then get in touch!

My particular branch of the world Pisani family is an interesting one. Spread across the world, of the descendants of my great-great-grandfather Lorenzo I am the only male Pisani capable of continuing the Family name! Of the hundreds of 'cousins' that currently appear in that family tree, it is so far all down to me to keep our Pisani name alive; although the wider I can make my tree the less likely that this pressure will hold!

My Pisani family left Malta some time towards the end of the19th century. My Great-Great-grandfather, Lorenzo Pisani [born 24th August 1853 in Cospicua*, Malta] married Giovanna Aquilina [born 23rd May 1857 also in Cospicua] on June 1st 1882 in Alexandria, Egypt. They had 10 surviving children of which the 7th was my great-grandfather, Giovanni.

My full tree contains hundreds of people, however, a brief synopsis of my paternal tree looks like this:

* I recently received information from Cospicua Parish church in Malta proving that Salvatore and Carmela were indeed married there in 1845. I am unsure at this point whether they remained in Malta or if they went to Egypt along with their son Lorenzo - this is the focus of my research at the moment.

**Little is known about my great-grandmother Marika "Maria" Curzi. She was of Greek extraction, despite the surname, and in fact had to learn to speak Italian in order to converse with the rest of my great-grandfather's family. Her death certificate states that she was born in Israel however the clever ones amongst you will know that the modern State of Israel did not come into existence until 1948 when it declared independence. Therefore it is proving extremely difficult to pin point the true location of her birth, and will no doubt prove more difficult still to obtain any documentary evidence.
